The initiative aims at overcoming poor-quality broadband in specific city neighbourhoods in the Reggio Emilia area by allowing access to the Metropolitan Area Network (the broadband network owned by the public administrations of Emilia-Romagna). Radio Pata is a 24/7 community radio, co-created with inhabitants of Pata Rât - a 2,000 strong Roma slum near Cluj-Napoca, Romania. Radio Pata is streamed through a custom mobile application, also implementing grass-roots community self-organization tools and a feed on public social services.

Through the pilot, supports needs are identified and new and innovative ways to provide respite and support are tested. "It’s My Turn!" (to Speak) is a card game that gives children an active role in their community. Children are given cards to answer questions related to activities they like to do, to climate change or simply their neighbourhood. This enables the identification of citizenship issues concerning kids, engages them and the community (schools, families, etc.), and is the starting point to identify and implement local projects based on their civic participation and on that of the community as a whole.
